Being a doctor was my life goal since my childhood. During my secondary school education, I was so lucky to personally get acquainted with Dr. Mária Szentcsíki, who became a leading role model in my medical career.

I finished my studies at the Semmelweis University Medical School in 1993. Subsequently, still at present, I work in Semmelweis University ÁOK, where in 2000 I graduated as an internist and in 2002 as an endocrinologist. The field I represent is the science of the hormone system, a very specialized branch of internal medicine, which I have learned from masters of international standing, such as Dr. Edit Gláz and Dr. Károly Rácz professors. My main areas of interest are, in addition to some diseases of the pituitary gland, thyroid – parathyroid gland, and the adrenal gland, medical conditions of the reproductive system. For almost a decade and a half, I have been actively involved in the graduate medical training of our university and in the teaching of internal medicine in the Hungarian and German grades. The art of healing, the love of knowledge, and the training of the doctors of the future are noble tasks that are all obligatory; this is my creed!

Internal medicine is the clinic‘s „compass“, the most comprehensive area of medicine, serving to assess and evaluate the harmonious functioning of the body and integrating the knowledge of each special field.

The most significant related special fields are the following:
  • cardiology, dealing with cardiovascular diseases,
  • pulmonology, dealing with diseases of the respiratory tract; hematology, dealing with diseases related to blood,
  • gastroentrology, dealing with diseases of the digestive system (stomach, intestines, kidneys, gall bladder),
  • endocrinology, dealing with the endocrine (hormone) system,
  • diabetology and lipidology, dealing with the body‘s metabolism,
  • and last but not least, nephrology, concerning the kidneys and the urinary system.

With the help of today‘s complex approach to internal medicine, a comprehensive medical expertise and the most up-to-date testing methods, this field is also particularly important with regards to disease prevention and health maintenance.

The internist – the internal medicine doctor – carefully records the patient‘s medical history (anamnesis) and asks the patient to report on his current problems, followed by an all-round physical check and blood pressure test.

Getting to know details about the disease, its background and the patient‘s medical history, as well as the checks mentioned here are indispensable in order to be able to provide a correct diagnosis and to develop the appropriate treatment strategy.

The internist thus can advance using his profound theoretical knowledge and applying numerous examination methods. He will suggest specific consultations and examinations, in order to finally ensure the patient‘s healing.

The patient always stands at the centre of the healing process, but the way to her or his complete healing is done together in teamwork, involving the cooperation of different specialists to ensure an optimal treatment leading to the possibility of complete recovery!
