If the composition of bile changes \u2013 for example, it contains a higher proportion of cholesterol or bile pigments \u2013 it can easily form crystals and later stones.<\/p><h5>Factors that increase the risk include:<\/h5><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">female gender<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Age over 40 years<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">overweight, rapid weight loss<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">hormone-containing preparations (contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy)<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">diabetes<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">family accumulation<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">fatty, irregular eating<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>Although we cannot influence many factors, early detection and personalized treatment significantly reduce the chance of complications.<\/p><h4>What are the most common symptoms of gallstones?<\/h4><h5>1. Pain under the right rib cage<\/h5><p>This is the most common complaint. The pain:<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">increases after eating<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">often provoked by fatty foods<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">may radiate to the right shoulder or back<br \/><br \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">wavy or convulsive in nature<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>A typical biliary spasm can last up to 1\u20134 hours and comes on suddenly.<\/p><h5>2. Bloating, feeling of fullness, indigestion<\/h5><p>Many people only experience unpleasant, milder symptoms: bloating after eating, stomach discomfort, or a feeling of fullness.<\/p><h5>3. Nausea, vomiting<\/h5><p>Nausea or vomiting may also occur during a seizure.<\/p><h5>4. Jaundice<\/h5><p>If the stone gets into the common bile duct, it causes a blockage.
